Meet Dr. Christopher Murphy
Dr. Murphy is a lifelong New Englander, born and raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and is proud to call Maine home. His dedication to excellence in orthodontics is matched by his strong ties to the community he serves.
He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Providence College Liberal Arts Honors Program before earning his dental degree from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Christopher Murphy continued his specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Connecticut, where he developed a strong foundation in advanced clinical care and evidence-based treatment.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Murphy serves as a clinical faculty member and lecturer in developmental biology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Advanced Graduate Education Program in Orthodontics and at the SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine Department of Orthodontics. His involvement in academic education reflects his commitment to advancing the field and mentoring the next generation of orthodontists.

Dr. Murphy is a Board-Certified orthodontist, an achievement earned by fewer than half of practicing orthodontists. Board certification demonstrates a commitment to the highest standards of clinical skill, continued education, and patient care.

Dr. Murphy specializes in early interceptive treatment, adolescent orthodontics, and adult orthodontic care. His approach centers on personalized treatment planning, modern technology, and long-term stability. He is particularly interested in biomechanics, accelerating tooth movement, and optimizing treatment efficiency, and he has lectured nationally and published research on these topics.

Outside the Office
When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves being outdoors in every season, whether surfing, snowboarding, or hiking. A devoted New England sports fan, he brings that same energy and enthusiasm into his practice every day.
